Show Open House Planned ToHonor Mamie D. Orton, 80. Mrs. Mamie D. Orton, highly respected resident of Parowan. will be honored on Monday, Mar. 11 with an open house, to be held In the First-Second Ward Relief Society rooms from 3:30 to 5 p. m. on that day. Mrs. Orton's birthday will be Saturday, Mar. 9. The open house Is being sponsored spon-sored by a group of relatives and friends who extend a cordial in-1 vitatlon to all of Mrs. Orton's relatives and friends to call on her at this time. The honored lady was born In Parowan Mar. 9, 1877. a daughter of Thomas and Caroline Durham. She has spent a lifetime of service ser-vice in the L D S Church. She has worked in the Sunday School. Primary and M I A and acted as chorister for the Relief Society, the Primary and local camps of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She began singing in the Ward Choir when she was 13 and has been a Relief Society teacher for over 50 years. She married William H. Orton on Dec. 10. 1897 in the Mantl L D S temple with the trip from Parowan to Mantl being made in a covered wagon. Her husband died July 20, 1923. She has one living child, a daughter.
