Show Summer Activities Programs a Question During the past week when towns in this area are getting ready to launch their summer activity ac-tivity programs for the young people, we have been endeavoring endeavor-ing to find out what is going to happen to the Parowan young people. And to date there doesn't seem to be very much In the offing. of-fing. We are talking about the summer sum-mer recreation program and the summer classes for students in music. As for the summer recreation program we learn from city officials offi-cials that there is no money available in the city treasury at the present time to finance it The money allotted to the city recreation department from Iron County and School District funds was given mostly to the swimming swim-ming pool and the rest was set up by the recreation committee for Improvements at the city race track. This is all very good, but it may put an end to the little league baseball program and other oth-er recreation activities that has been building up over the past several years, and if it falls down this year will leave a host of youngsters without any guided recreation program. Mayor Osmer Nielsen informed the writer that the committee is talking of going on with the program pro-gram by contributions from the businesses and clubs of the city. We hope something can be developed de-veloped to get the program under way. As for the music program, we are Informed by Superintendent Ianthus Wright and Principal Max Dalley that we do not yet have a music instructor to take over the program. Mrs. Ramona Stubbs, who has filled that position posi-tion very well during the past school year, is done, both by her decision and the decision of the state department of education or whoever is In control on the state level. They both state that they are endeavoring to get a music instructor in-structor for the school but as yet they haven't come up with anything. any-thing. Again we hope that a person per-son will be found for the Job. |
