Show UoiU Geology Dept. Head Plans Southern Utah Tour Dr. Richard Threat, department of geology of the University of Utah, will tour the geological highlights of southern Utah this week end with 28 geology majors and students, it was announced I thsi week. The group will be in southern I Utah Friday, Nov. 15 through I Sunday, Nov. 17, for the express purpose of looking over Cedar City, Zion Canyon and other geological geo-logical features of the area. Plans were announced to begin be-gin studies at Paragonah Friday. From there the touring bus will make stops at Parowan and Par-owan Par-owan gap before arriving in Cedar Ce-dar City Friday evening. They will stay at Hotel El Escalante. Saturday -the group will embark em-bark on a trip to the south where they will study the Hurricane fault, proceed to Zion and Pine Creek formations. Dr. Thrat has extended an Invitation In-vitation for people Interested In geology In this area to make the tour with he U of U sudents Saturday. Sa-turday. Anyone Interested should contact D. C. Schmutz of the Col. lege of Southern Utah. Dr. Threat Is no new-comer to southern Utah. He has made intensive studies in this area and has conducted a number of summer school sessions at CSU n the past. |
