Show City Finances Good, New Equipment To Be Purchased Parowan City's mayor ii! Ray Lyman, informs Us that the financial fi-nancial condition of Parowan city is very good, due mostly to increased revenues from the city owned hydro-electric plant, although al-though other collections have been very good also. Mr. Lyman states that because of this the purchase of some much needed equipment is contemplated, con-templated, including a truck for the streets and sidewalks department. depart-ment. City officials have also decided to pay off some other Obligations ahead of time due to increased funds in the city treasury. The final payment of $3,000 on the city's fire truck and equipment, equip-ment, which is not due until the first of 1953, will be liquidated this year instead. $1500 of this amount is to be paid now and the other $1500 during the fall, we are informed. Hydro-electric collections have been running very good, more than ample to make the payments pay-ments on the plant and pay for its maintenance and operation. With the advent of a normal or above normal water year, the city collected almost $600 for the sale of surplus power to the Southern Utah Power company during the month of May, in contrast con-trast to paying that company almost $2000 a month last winter win-ter for standby power. This condition con-dition will continue as long as the water flow remains at normal nor-mal or above from Parowan creek. |
