The new piece of equipment is a "Merry-go-round," designed for easy and safe use by one or two children or a large number, and has been ordered and will be installed as scon as it arrives. ar-rives. It will cost the city $350.00 and will be partly financed by funds donated by the Cedar City Jaycee-Ettes. The City council authorized the purchase of the equipment at its meeting Thursday. Thurs-day. Andther facility for children's recreation has also been added at the park, with the repair of the children's wading pool at the municipal pool. The repairs have been completed and the pool is now ready for use. At the meeting of the council Tuesday a petition from property owners in the soujth portion of the city, in which action of eliminating elim-inating a hazard on an irrigation irriga-tion canal, was studied, and referred re-ferred to the City attorney for further study. The petition asked ithat the South and West field irrigation canal be fenced since it is hazardous to small children living in homes close to the stream. It is. understood, however, how-ever, that the property owners have been notified that since the canal was in (the vicinity when the homes were builty the responsibility of eliminating the hazard rests with the property owners. Approval was given for the fencing of the sewer disposal1 plant area. As soon as details can be worked out the -fence will be installed, ithe City Manager re-1 ports. Also, approval was given for replacing the roofs on the two hangars at the municipal airport. Considerable time at the meeting meet-ing was also devoted to a discussion dis-cussion of the removal of the city dump and its relajtion to the development of a golf course for Cedar City, two major projec's that have been under consideration considera-tion for two or three years, with very little tangible results being shown. The discussion resulted from a request by the Chamber of Commerce golf course committee, com-mittee, that the dump be moved so that development of the golf I course could proceed. Immediate I action on the matter was promised. |
