Show CLUB AND PARTY MUTES By Mrs. Therol MacArthui Miss Bea Roberts was hostess to the members of the En Avante Club Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Fern Amend. Mrs. Zola Dover gave a most interesting interest-ing review of the book, "William Lions Phelps," to the group. Refreshments Re-freshments were served at the end of the very enjoyable eve- ning. Mrs. Florence Corry had as her special guest her sister. Miss Blanche Decker of Los Angeles. An-geles. Mrs. Clark Mathews entertain-, ed Thursday afternoon at a birthday party for her son Howard, How-ard, the occasion being his sixth birthday. Games and refreshments refresh-ments were enjoyed by 20 of his little friends. , Another small fry social event of the week was the birthday party par-ty seven-year-old Gayle Bawden gave for 14 of her young friends and neighbors who spent Friday afternoon playing games and eating birthday cake. The Reading Club met Friday afternoon at the home of Florence Flor-ence Berry, with Vilate Kenney serving as co-hostess. The program pro-gram consisted of a well presented pre-sented book review by Sade Thor-ley, Thor-ley, 'Trading with the Navaho," by Gillmor Weatherill. Members present were Rose Anderson, Jessie Jes-sie Lu Albertson, Ada Leigh, Margaret Urie, Florence Higbee, Mildred Sargent, Thurza Little, Lona Watson, Cora Stucki, Dewey Dew-ey Thorley, Emma Nelson, Prudence Pru-dence Croft and Helen Eyman. Mrs. Harold Wycoff, Mrs. Boyd Leonard and Mrs. Blaine Standi-flrd Standi-flrd were co-hostesses Monday night at the Wycoff home at a bridge party in honor of Mrs. Bill Herald who is moving soon to Nevada to make her home. Those present were, besides the hostesses hostess-es and honored guest, Mrs. Jack Strate, Mrs. Murray Butler, Mrs. Tony Lambert, Mrs. Virgil Bird, Mrs. Dan Gillies. Mrs. Harold was presented with a lovely guest prize, and bridge scores were won by Mrs. Butler and Mrs. Gillies. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Lynch and Mr. and Mrs. Fred E. Bunnell were hosts to tne Reverend William Wil-liam Burton family and their house guests, Mrs. Burton's mother, moth-er, Mrs. Youman. and her sister, Mrs. Louise Jennings and small son David, at picnic dinner Wednesday Wed-nesday evening at the Five Mile recreation grounds in Parowan Canyon. The Burtons leave soon to make their home in Tennessee. Mrs. Tom Urie was hostess to I the members of her bridge club at her home Monday evening at la delightful bridge luncheon. La-J La-J dies present were Mrs. M. F. Burgess, Bur-gess, Mrs. Clarence Randall, Mrs. Donald Mathews, Mrs. Alden Heap. Mrs. Glen Yergensen, Mrs. (Max Randall, and Mrs. Jack Thu-et. Thu-et. Prizes were won by Mrs. Bur-pess Bur-pess and Mrs. Heap. Mrs. Carl Hazel was hostess to the members of her Tuesday night bridge club at her home this week. She invited Mrs. S. W. Heyborne and Mrs. Lola Logan Lo-gan as special guests to the club. Following an evening of bridge refreshments were served to the following: .Mrs. Paul Stewart, Mrs. Arthur Burnham, Miss Ethel Smith, Mrs. L. R. McConnell, Mrs. Zealand Murdock, Mrs. Hugh Cheever, Mrs. Arnold Arrowsmith, and Mrs. Virgil Smith. Prizes were won by Mrs. Hazel, Mrs. Heyborne and Mrs;- McConnell. The annual Dewey Avenue "Neighborhood Party" with be held this Thursday night at 7:30 at the Cedar Canyon camp ground. The evening will be spent at dinner and visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leigh are chairmen of the affair. Mary Jane Seaman entertained at a prettily appointed luncheon at her home Tuesday afternoon in honor of her sister-in-law, Dagma Palmer from Washington, D. C. Guests were all old classmates class-mates of Mrs. Palmer and included includ-ed Lillis Larson, Belle Jones, Florence Corry, Lillian Lunt, Laura Gardner, Mary Seaman, Zola Dover and lone Bradshaw. |
