Show KAHARRAVILLE HEWS Hannah A. Davis Pioneer Day in Kanarraville was full of festivities, starting at day-break with salutes and serenading by the string band. A parade was held at 9:30 a. m. led by Kenneth Williams on horseback as Brigham Young. Mrs. Vaughn Isom was Queen of '17. Norma Peeves was Queen of '54. and Mrs. Berta Williams was Indian Princess. An excellent program followed, paying tribute to our pioneers. Sports for both old and young were held at 4 p. m.. followed by a children's dance at the Cobble Chest hall, and a dance for adults in the evening. Many of our friends from surrounding towns joined with us for the celebration. I The men of the town are busy tring to harvest their hay and grain, but progress has been slow because of the rainstorms of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Williams and children of Salt Lake City are spending their vacation with : their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noel Williams of Kanarraville and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thurston of Hurricane. Hur-ricane. They were accompanied I by Mr. William's sister, Darlene, who has been employed at Salt Lake City for some time. Chesley Williams visited for a few days in Summit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Iiudger Fife. Mrs. LaHee Pollock entertained a group of friends at her home last week at a surprise party for her husband Keith, on his birth day. Sam L. Pollock enjoyed a visit from some of his children from California, Mr. and Mrs. Jack , Trimble and children, and his I son Woodrow Pollock. I Mr. and Mrs. Ross Williams 'and family and Mrs. llettie Pollock Pol-lock are vacationing in Yellowstone Yellow-stone National Park. They were accompanied by Mrs. Pollock's' daughter, Mrs. Roma Wood and j daughters of Las Vegas. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bringhurst and family of Toquerville were Sunday visitors here with Mr. ' and Mrs. Glade Berry. I Mrs. Vaughn Isom enjoyed a visit for a few days this week from her daughter, Mrs. La Don -na Roundy, granddaughter Vickie Lee. and her son LaWayne Isom of California. j Visitors at their homes this week from Las Vegas were Reed , Williams, Devon Reeves, Jim Lo-vell Lo-vell and son Dewain. and Jean Little. All have employment in the Nevada city. Dayton Davis and family and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Isom and children, Mrs. Roma Wood and 'daughters of Las Vegas were I here on Pioneer Day. Several of the Boy Scouts attended at-tended the first annual Boy Scout camp at Navajo Lake this week. |
