Show Auction Sales To Highlight Livestock Show Auction sales will play a most important part in the 14th annual an-nual Southern Utah Livestock Show to be held on the College of Southern Utah campus on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9, io and 11. The first of the auction sales will take place on the second day of the show when breeding sheep takes the spotlight. The breeding sheep sale, a feature separate entirely from the fat stock exhibits and sale, will present pre-sent for sale stock consigned by breeders of the area. One new regulation has been added to this sale, but will not become effective until the 1955 show. It deals with eligibility for registration of the purebred stock offered for sale. The provision is being announced an-nounced this year so that there can be no misunderstanding for the 1955 show. It provides that animals consigned for sale as purebred stock for breeding purposes pur-poses must have purebred sire and dam and be eligible for registration. reg-istration. Purebred Hereford Sales Immediately following t h e breeding sheep sale on the second sec-ond day, a sale of purebred Hereford Here-ford heifers will be held. Only heifers 16 to 24 months of age will be accepted on consignment for the sale. Last year weaner heifer calves were also offered, but this class has been eliminated elimin-ated for the 1954 show. The climax of the entire show, of course, will be the auction sale of fat stock exhibited by 4-H Club and Future Farmer chapter members. The success of this sale during the past 13 years has been one of the factors that has added to the continued growth of the show as one of the most important livestock shows of the West. Year to year increases in the number of stock exhibited has prompted action to protect the exhibitor from a sales angle. In order to make sure that every exhibitor will be able to sell his stock, a limit has been set as to the number of animals each exhibitor may enter. The limit is set at two individuals in the fat steer division, and two individuals individ-uals or one pen and an individual individ-ual in the fat lamb division. Preparations for the annual show are going forward very satisfactorily, sat-isfactorily, Kumen S. Gardner, show manager announces, with all committees busy on their particular par-ticular assignments. |
