Show Summer Softball League to Start June 6; To Enter Team in St ate Meet I Hans for the summer Softball league play were formulated on Monday night when new officers of the Cedar Softball Association Associa-tion were elected. Leo Cahoon, manager of thei Stevens 4 Company store, was named president of the association, associa-tion, succeeding Ray Nichols, manager of the local Safeway Store, who headed the organization organiza-tion during the past year. Far-rell Far-rell Peterson was elected vice president to succeed Morgan Rollo, Rol-lo, and Therol McArthur was selected se-lected as secretary and treasurer, treasur-er, succeding Rulon Woodbury. The Board of directors of the association is composed of managers man-agers of the teams entered in the city league, and therefore the organization will not be completed complet-ed until all teams are entered. Directors during the past year were Mr. Peterson, Mr. McArthur, York Nelson, Boyd Rollins, Bill Jordan, Ray Lee and Jay Wilkinson. Wil-kinson. Present plans call for the opening op-ening of league play on June 6, and Mr. Cahoon urges all business busi-ness firms or organizations who wish to enter teams to contact him, Mr. Peterson or Mr. McArthur Mc-Arthur as soon as possible. As soon as all entries are in the schedule will be drawn up, Mr. Cahoon states. "It is also hoped", Mr. Cahoon says, "that some business firms and civic groups will see fit to organize Junior teams this year, and if four or five teams can be organized a Junior league will be formed". The new president also states that the Softball Association plans to enter a team In the State Tournament this fall, and that plans will be formulated before be-fore the local season opens for the selection of a team to represent rep-resent Cedar City in the state I meet. |
