Show Seventeen Men Accepted By Selective Service Of the fifty men ordered by the Selective Service Board to report for induction on December 2, nineteen nine-teen of them volunteered for service in various branches, two were transferred, trans-ferred, seventeen were accepted, one failed to report and the balance were rejected. The inductees who were accepted, most of whom have been home on a short furlough and will report for active duty Thursday, are as follows: fol-lows: Dean Mackelprang, Lester E. Smith, Albert B. Albertson, Kay L. Cutler, Dale Corry, David H. Baldwin, Bald-win, Vincent Mulllner and J, Archie Arch-ie Irving, of Cedar City; Lloyd Stubbs, Claude Dalton, Leonard S. Orton, Ernest W. Lowe, Clyde D. Moore, Robert J. Mortensen, and Frank Parker, Parowan; Wm. A. Ford, and Emerson Williams, Kan-arra. Kan-arra. Miles Adams of Cedar City, who has been working in Salt Lake City, and then moved to Tooele, failed to report on the day scheduled. Those rejected were David N. Prothero, Wm. Boardman, Geary Page, Thos. Gibbs, Perry Houchen, John Warthen, Albert E. RoUb, Dare Skougard, Kent Pendleton, Alvln U. DecKer, and Paul Prlsby. The transfers trans-fers were Wayne Warner of Cedar City and Howard Clark Mitchell of Parowan. The men who will report for duty today, together with those who have volunteered during the month were honored at a farewell program at the First Ward Chapel Monday night. The program, sponsored by the s:hools featured an inspiring talk by Rev. Harry Wooding, a selection se-lection by a brass quartet composed of Fred Lewis, Paul Roberts, Bruce Riddle and Edward Southwlck, and a Cantata "Chimes of the Holy Night." by girls from the Junior and Senior high school under the direction of Mrs. Elaine Southwlck. The honored guests were introduced by Kirk Daly, prayer was by Brandt D. Jorgensen and Taps were played by Fred Lewis. |
