Show NEWS From The CITY OFFICE The Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce was represented by J. C. Haws and May'.ln Maxfield at the last meeting of the City Council. Mr. Haws presented the general plan which the Junior Chamber has worked out for the fprlng clean-up campaign. Mr. Maxfield lrii'ormed the Council of Jaycee plans to spray all breeding places of flies with DDT. The County government is cooperating in this I program by permitting the use of Its sprayer and a man to operate , the machine. This Is the first time that a program pro-gram has been conceived to make la thorough application of DDT to all the breeding places of files. Realizing that in carrying out this program, there may be need of educating the people to the proper use of DDT, it was thought that the City ought to assume a part of the expenses connected with the undertaking. The Council hopes that the citizens citi-zens will look upon this expenditure expendi-ture of tax funds to the amount of $300 as a justified educational and health program. The Council does not think that it is the City government gov-ernment function to provide each citizen with DDT whenever they wish to spray again their particu-ar particu-ar properties. It is our hope that 11 citizens will see the value of using DDT and then individually is ume the respons blhty of keeping keep-ing their own p'aces clean, and jettlnj the necssary DDT from the nerchanta In the community to Apply when and where necessary. All mu?t realize that they in-llvidually in-llvidually have a stake in this '!n project that the Junior Chamber Cham-ber is sponsoring. Flies are no rejectors re-jectors of property lines.
