Show Iron County Red Cross Fund Drive May Reach Goal The 1946 Red Cross Fund Drive for Iron County is drawing to a close and although all reports are not In from the different towns in the county, indication are that the quota of $5000.00 may be met. According to Orville Isom, Iron County Fund Chairman, thle year apparently was a psychologically wrong year to raise a large quota. The war has ended and there Is a general public let-down in, the spirit which has carried other Red Cross drives as well as drives for funds for other purposes over the top. But in spite of this Mr. Isom considers the drive a success and has hopes of reaching the full quota. The Cedar City drive ls not completed com-pleted and of the quota of $3,500.00 approximately $3100.00 has been raised to date and indications are that the full quota will be reached. Although the residential districts did not quite reach their quotas, the Cedar City business district ls making up for the deficiency. All reports from the communities commun-ities are not in as yet, reports Mr. Is.cm, but the ones which are In, with one exception, are slightly below their quotas. Since the other communities in the County do not have the large business district which Cedar City has but generally have lo rely upon Individuals, they may fall short the same as the residential districts in Cedar City. Lund is the exception in the drive tl f is far, that community having contributed $88.65 as compared to a quota of $70.00. Mrs. J. H. Johnston, John-ston, drive chairman, finding It difficult to raise the full amount in cash, accepted produce contributions, contri-butions, then arranged a dance and staged an auction sale, to surpass sur-pass the quota. All funds collected from the drive in theatres during this wee are being divided between the Red Cross and the Boy Sccuts, and pople are urged to contribute freely. |
