Show Granger Claims Sheep Men Must Change Marketing System Congressman Walter K. Grangr speaking at the meeting of the Cedar Ce-dar City Lions Club Monday, maintained main-tained that the livestock industry of Utah, although one of the state's basic Industry is in a precarlow conditio.! and unless correction ol certain unfavorable situations arc effected soon the industry is "oi its way out." This, he malntalnec I would have a disastrous effect oi practically every community in thf state of Utah. Improvement In marketing conditions con-ditions is the Industry's greates iiped, he stated, and pointed out that this could best be remedied by centralizing cen-tralizing the market in the West rather than letting It be controlled entirely In the East as at present At the present time, he claimed, the producer knows nothing of his woo after it Is shipped, and he must depend de-pend entirely upon the eastern market set-up and doesn't even know what his actual shrink is. What should be done, Mr. Granger maintained, is that scouring aiu grading plant's should be established in the heart of the producing area so that the grower may know exactly ex-actly what his shrink Is what hl-wool hl-wool is like when graded, and above all, so that he would be shipping cleaned wool and not paying frelgh ,on the grease and dirt of unscoured wool. The speaker also maintained that although big game plays an Important Im-portant part in western life, we must realize that the livestock Industry Is of greater Importance and that the big game control problem must be handled in a realistic manner. Congressman Granger also took jtime to vlrgously deny rumors that there is no sugar shortage In America. Amer-ica. He maintained that although there is much sugar in the ware houses of Utah and Idaho, a sugar producing area, there is an acute shortage In the country as a whole and claimed that the shortage would contlnuuc until Hawaii and the Philippines get back into full production.
