Show County Fair Opens At Parowan Nent Thursday Everything is in readiness for the opening of the Iron County Fair at Parowan next Thursday morning, according to Thales Brown, general chairman of the Fair Committee, who also reports that his committee expects exhibits this year to far exceed ex-ceed those of any previous year. Mr. Brovh states that already more livestock entries have been received that were exhibited last j ver.r, and calls attention to the fact that all dairy cattle to be exhibited must be tested for Bangs disease on Friday or Saturday of this week. Dr. Curtis o f the Utah State Agricultural Agri-cultural college will be in the county on those days to make the tests. Dairy cattle owners should contact Mr. Brown or County Agent L. E. Tueller, and arrange to have theL unlmlas tested. In addition to the Judges of livestock live-stock and crops, announced last week, Mr. Brown states that Miss Francis Gromley of the U. S. A. C. will Judge 4-H club exhibits, while Miss Mary L. Bastow of Cedar City will judge the flower exhibits and will assist with the judging of canned can-ned fruit and vegetables. All entries must be in place by 9:00 a.m. Thursday, September 5th I Mr. Brown States. Mr. Brown states the poultry section sec-tion has been eliminated because ol an outbreak of a poultry disease in the north that has caused the state Agricultural Department to ordei all poulry shows closed. A three day race meet, with eight good races each day, will be held during the Fair, the first race on each program to be run at 2:00 p.m. More than one hundred horses will be be on hand for the meet, including in-cluding many of the throughbreds that participated at the American Legion Meet in July, and a large number of horses that have not previously pre-viously run at the Parowan Track. Special entertainment will be provided pro-vided during each race program by a professional trick rider and roper. Dancing will be held at the Brown Derby hall each evening. |
