Show Weed Eradication Campaign Started At a me. ting; of the Iron County Weed Committee held Monday Agricultural Agr-icultural Inspector Maylin W. Max-field, Max-field, who is in charge of the weed eradication program in the county, reports that 80 percent of the elf lost in Cedar City are Infested with noxious weeds, mostly wild morning glory. Adams, chairman or the County Weed Committee; Commissioners Cliarl s R. Hunter nd I. E. Rddle. and the following members of the committee; Scott Mitchell. Mylln U. Maxfield, Elmer Davis. H nry L Jones. Fred Howard Ray Farrow. Byron Baldwin' and Lnmont E. Tueller. A determined effort Is being made the county weed commltt.e through the county weed program, to assist all land owners who have noxious weed Inflated lots or fields to control or eradicate the weeds.' The state lay places the responsibility respons-ibility for nozlous weed control definitely def-initely with ihe property owner. The County Commissioners and the County Weed Committee, however, are extremely anxious and willing to give property owners the greatest great-est possible amount of assistance in controlling and eradicating noxious nox-ious weeds. Property owners who have noxious weeds and d sire county assistance in controling and erodlcatlnj the weeds should get in touch with Mr. Maxfield or any of his county weed workers, or should g-t In touch with some member of the county weed committee. The Commissioners Com-missioners tnd Committee authorize the use of the new weed ch-mlcai "Weedone" to a much larger extent, ex-tent, in the control of noxious weeds sine this particular new weed chemical seems to be giving much better results In the control of weeks than atlaeld carbon bisulphide or clean cultivation. The weed committee appointed a special committee consisting of C. R. Hunt r. Chairman. Maylin U. Maxfield. Lamont E Tueller and Byron Baldwin, to locate and purchase pur-chase spray equipment for the control con-trol of noxious weeds by means of the use of "Weedone." Inspector Maxfield was authorized authoriz-ed to order 100 gallons of the new chemical for Immdlate use In the county.. |
