The franchise granted is not exclusive and does not place any limitation on the right of tin; city to grant a similar franchise to any other company. In consideration of the granting! of the franchise the company agrees J to make certain improvements within the city. The first of these is the Installation of a modern J street lighting system on Main street, without expense to the city.' I This will Include the installation of ,32 lamp posts, 30 of which shall be equipped with 2500 lumen lamp fix.' tures, and two of which will be equipped with sodium vapor lamp fixtures. Construction of this system sys-tem will be started as soon as materials ma-terials can be obtained. The company also agrees to re-' move power distribution poles from the city streets running North and South, placing them in the center of the blocks. This program Is to start as soon as War Production Board Restrictions are lifted on the use of materials needed, and shall be completed over a five year per-' iod, with the poles to be removed from stipulated streets each year.1 A new rate schedule for street lighting and other purposes at th? airport, city building, city park and swimming pool, will be filed Im-' mediately with the Public Service Commission of Utah. The company also agrees to provide pro-vide flouresccnt lighting fixtures for lighting the pioneer building on the city park, and also to provide a suitable lighting system for the city park. In order that the company might meet the increased demands for electric service in Cedar City the War Production Board has granted the Southern Utah Power Company! priorities for the construction of a' new steam plant to be located In' the Coal Creek Canyon, thus as-1 surlng the city of adequate electric ) service for many years to come, and adequate power for extensive de-1 velopment and growth.
