Show Inspection Trip Made' By Grazing Service A very interesting and informative informa-tive Inspection trip was made last week to the U. S. Grazing Service revegetation area located on the Mlnersville road several miles I Northwest of the Parowan gap In ' low rolling hills. Those making the trip were Congressman Walter K. Granger. E. E. House, District Grazier; Albert Al-bert AlberUson, Forest Superlvosr; Leland Heywood. Assistant Forest I Supervisor: Dr. Donald Beil, B. A. C; Clarence Anderson, Smith-Hughes Smith-Hughes Instructor at Cedar City High School Lamont E. Tueller, County Agricultural Agent- Win. Thorley, President of Cedar City i Livestock Association; and about twenty prominent llvestockmen. The upper reseedlng area, near ' the drift fence, has been in operation opera-tion less than a year. The blj sage ' brush have been railed and four pounds of crested wheat grass sowed to the acre. In the opinion I of the stockmen the results are j astounding and illuminating because I of the grass and weeds produced on these heretofore unproductive sage . brush lands, now dominated by j native wheat grasses. It was estimated estim-ated by some of the stockmen that the reseeded area grows ten times the feed that it formerly did. and gives economic returns on the money expended. The grazing Service Is planning to reseed to crested wheat grass approximately 10,000 acres of p.Jor grazing lands this fall. Following the Inspection of the lands a barbecue lamp supper with all the trimmings was served to the men present. |
