Show County Tax Levy Changed by Board The tax levy on Iron County property pro-perty for 1945 was changed again Monday when the Board of County Commissioners met in Parowan. The levy was first set at 29.1 mills on property outside of the limits of Cities and Incorporated towns. Later this was raised to 30 mills, and now it has been dropped to 28 mills. Changes in the assessed valua- I . nun ui property was the reason for the latest drop, and principal reduction was In the school district levy. The original school levy was made on an assessed valuation of approximately IC.000,000 but changes in valuations made by the state and county brought the valuation up to a little over eleven million dollars, and later the state tax commission ordered a ten percent Increase on the valuation of real estate which added another $250,000 to the total as.ses.sed valuation. As a result the school levy was reduced 1.8 mills, making the levy for this year 15.7 mills as compared to 17.5 mills originally levied. Paragonah's lew is 4 mills, the same the levy In Kanarra. Thus Parowan pro)erty owners will pay taxes on a levy of 415 mills while those In Paragonali and Kanarra will pay 32 mills. . |
