The Court Report for the month of Feb. is as follows: Seven drunkenefs cases with total fines of $150.00. One case involving in-volving six months Jail sentence. Four cases of disturbing tht peiee $75.00; Two trespassing cases $35, One case of drunken driving $100; Ball Forfeitures $20; Six traffic violations $35. bringing the total to $41500 We should like to call to the attention at-tention of all, the heavy fine of one hundred dollars for drunken driving. Justice Rollo can be encouraged en-couraged and complimented In the policy of placing fines severe enough to acl as a detriment to the most dangerous crime of driving while drunk. The Police are to be congratulated In efforts on traffic violations and are urged to Increase their vigilance. We wish to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the Utah State Board of Health for locating lo-cating Mr. Willard West as their representative in our community. Mr. West Is very much Interested in the health and sanitation problems prob-lems of Cedar City, and will cooperate coop-erate with us In every way possible We will do well as groups and as Individuals to ass'.st the Utah State Board of Health In their efforts. M. .It. -H. V- (- if Councilman Parson Webster and a Surveying group under the direction dir-ection of City Engineer have been at work plotting the northern part of the City Cemetery. This has been needed for some time. In-d.vlduals In-d.vlduals who in the future get plots In the new area can be assured as-sured of exact location. This also will aid in the orderly improvement and beautiflcatlon of the cemetery. Now that the community through its many organizations have come to agreement on the location of the race track, united efforts can now be directed toward this project. The land selected for the cite is owned by the City. It now Becomes the City's responsibility to work out with interested groups desirable plans, policies and working agreements. agree-ments. This project will be a most worthwhile addition to the community com-munity needs. Councilman Morris Roberts has Leen in conference with Director Dr.'ggs relative to the City's efforts In helping to extend the sewer from the corner of fourth west and Center Cen-ter to the west. This will be connected con-nected to the utility houses which will serve the trailer unit, which is shortly to be established to provide pro-vide housing for Veterans who attend at-tend B.A.C. next year. This extension exten-sion Is of an emergency nature, none the less It Is highly Important Import-ant that the city help in every way within Its power, to aid the College In meeting a most serious problem, that of providing housing ficilltles for Veterans. |
