Show M PROCEEDINGS OF SCHOOL BOARD Many Matters Before Members at . Their Regular Session Held in Cedar Lm4 Monday. The Iron County School Board met in regular session Monday, March 3, at 2 p. m., in Cedar City. AH members mem-bers were present and the following ,. business was taken up: A committee representing the Commercial Com-mercial Club of Cedar City appeared and reported that the chib favored a bond issue large enough to complete the building program in the county, i The Board was urged to call a bond election soon. Architect Randall L. Jones reported that the contractor anticipated having the school building at Kanarra ready for class work by Apri' 1. On motion of Mr. Decker, seconded j by L. A. Thorley, the clerk was in-1 structed to notify the different banks in the county that the Board had decided de-cided to place its entire funds in one bank and that the same would be given giv-en to the bank submitting the best proposition as to rate of interest on daily balances, etc. On motion of Mr. Decker, seconded by L A. Thorley, the Board decided to employ :i man for the supervision of music in the southern end of the county next year. The Superintendent presented an outline of courses to be given in the junior high schools next year, and on motion of Mr. Decker, seconded by Mr. Mitchell, same was approved. On motion of Mr. Decker, seconded by Mr. Thorley, the increase in teachers' teach-ers' salary as recomemn.led by the Superintendent, was approved. A form of janitor's cpntnet was approved. The Board decided to start : campaign cam-paign for the bond issue and hold meetings throughout the county. On motion of L. A. Thorley, sec onded by Mr. Decker, it was decided to rent the school property in Cedar to the B. A. C. for the summer. An appropriation was made for large hall clocks in Cear and Por-owan Por-owan schools. The matter of opening the swim ming pool at aProwan to the citizens was left with Mr. Decker, Mr. Mitch-' ell and Principal R. L. Fenton. An appropriation of o50.(n was made for the purchase of a victroln at Summit school. Upon motion of: Mr. Decker, seconded by Mr. Thorley. Oa motion of Mr. Decker, seconded' by Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Byron Ahlst-om ' was appointed a teacher in the Paio-wan Paio-wan school at a salary of $90.00 cr ' month. On motion of Mr. Decker, seconded by L A. Thorley, the clerk of the i Board was given an increuse in sal-. ary. After approving the regular claims the Board adjourned. |
