Show Prof. Cnlnb Visits Shearing Plants. Prof. J. T. Caino III of the Agricultural Agricul-tural Collego today (April 11) began a trip through various pnrta of tho State during which ho will visit the shaop-shearing plants In tho interest f the movement to bring about a more humane treatment of shocp in shearing. shear-ing. Tho Agricultural Collego is quite in harmony with tho Humane society workers and will use its influence in-fluence In behalf of this society's cause. Gov. Spry also has endorsed this Idea of co-operation. In the past such cruel treatment has been dealt out to tho sheep by shear-era shear-era in tho interest of speed in shearing. shear-ing. Prof. Caine says this Is not only a broach of humanity, but results in such injury to tho sheep that their ownors lose considerably in profits. While only a part of the shearing plnnts will bo visited at this time, Mr. Caino expects to cover them all before be-fore the shearing season is over. During tho trip Prof. Caine, in connection con-nection with N. J. Evans and R. II. Stewart, farm demonstrators, will hold seven farmers' institutes in Carbon Car-bon and Emery counties. Ono of tho principlos that will be emphasized at these meetings will be the importance of breeding up farm animals. Up-to-date methods of agriculture in general also will come in for consideration. April 14, Prof. Caino will act as judge in the Northern Utah Live Stock show to bo held at Americnn Fork. |
