Parowan, Utah, .ly 17.- On July 15th, about 10 a. m., Julius Taylor, son of Henrf w. Taylor and Mary Warren Taylor of this place, was drowned in what is known as the, Sinfc about .five .niles northeast of the Hoosier Ranch, in the Paiowan mountains. moun-tains. L. Adams, and in company with two small , boys went in swimming in the ; Sink as as their custom during ; the hot weather. He was an excellent swimmer and was in the habit of swimming swim-ming lengthwise and across the pond, which is about 150 yards long and 80 yards wide. After being in the water for some time he was suddenly seized with a cramp, and being abcut 100 yards from the boys, he. sank before aid could reach him. The little fellows did all in their power to rescue him but without avail. After working persistently for a number of hours, they were f )rced to find their horses some, istance away and it was about 5. 'clock p. m. before they "reachc! town with die sad news. Lefcoy Adams was first to reach the lake and in less than fifteen minutes found the body in about five feet of water. The body was taken on horseback to the Hoosier Ranch where Mr. Van Buren had procured pro-cured some ice in which -the remains re-mains were packed and they were brought to town by his uncle, Mr. Geo. F. Taylor who arrived about 11:80 p. m. Julius was exceptionally bright and of a jovial disposition and was loved by all who knew him. He had attended the Branch Normal at Cedar City the past two years, and was earning means to again return the coming com-ing school year. Jul us was eighteen years of age the 10th of last April. Funeral services i were held at ten o'clock a. m. j July 18th. A number of relatives j from Salt Lake City were in attendance. |
