Show GRAND PROGRAM FOR PIONEER DAY Early Day Scene Will Be Re-Enacted Re-Enacted in Dramatic Form in Ward Hall Arrangements have been completed com-pleted for the program to be held on the Twenty-fourth, Pioneer Pio-neer day. The program will be of an unusual naturo and will portray the actual conditions existing ex-isting at the time the pioneers settled in Cedar City. Tho scene will be staged in the Ward Hall and some of the best talent in the city, and many of those who are familiar with pioneer pio-neer life, will have places in the cast. PROGRAM. Chorus, "Utah, We Love Thee," School Children, under direction of Miss Lillian Higbee. Prayer, Elder Richard Palmer. Hymn, "Come, Come, Ye Saints," audience. An Eulogy of the Pioneers, Miss Jean Brown. Address, S. A. Kenner. "Early Day Conditions," presented pre-sented by the following cast: Edward Parry, Mrs. Elizabeth Corry, Alice Bullock, Win. Lunt. Mrs. Maggie Walker, Mr. Cox, George Lunt, Mrs. Pryor. Mr. D. S. Macfarlane, Mrs. Rose Hunter, and others. A children's dance will beheld from 1:30 to 3. At 9 a. m. an automobile race will be run, the winner to receive re-ceive a purse of $25. Entrance fee, $2.50. At 2 o'clock a ball game will I bo' played between the r east and west wardsTtHe winningTcawr to receive $10. Following the ball game, the following program of sports will be given: Rope jumping contest for boys and girls, ages 8 and 9; 1st and 2n 1 prizes. Potato race for children, ages 8 and 9; 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes. Relay race for boys, ages 9 to 12; 1st and 2nd prizes. Basket race for boys and girls, ages 9 to 12; 1st and 2nd prizes. Figuring race for boys and girls, ages 9 to 12. Potato race on horseback; prize, $10; entrance fee, 50c. Blindfolded searching contest; prize. $3. Potato race, married men; prize $2.50. Potato race, girls; prize $2.50. Across country hobble race for single men ; prize, $3. Novelty relay race between one man and eight girls; prize, $8. Children's scratching contest; prize 500 pennies; limited to 500 children. The park will be sprinkled and an abundance of seats will be provided. |
