The race is to be run H during the Dixie Carnival at Saint H George, the date being set for Dcc- fl ember 27th at 2:00 p. m. H The Dixie Carnival will last five H days this session, beginning Monday, H December 27th, and ending with Fri-H Fri-H , day, December 31. The race program H is a big one, but there are also rop- H ing, basketball, baseball and dancing H to attract the lover of a good time. H Next Tuesday afternoon at the Rc- H lief Society Hall Mrs. Thornton will H give a literary lesson of especial in- H tcrcst and with the real Christmas H spirit. It is the regular session of the H Relief Society but the program is so H unusual in merit that it is hoped there H will be an exceptionally large ntten- H dance to enjoy it. H C. D. Rurkholdcr, who has been H spending a few mouths in California, H came home last week to arrange for H the assessment work on his mining H claims, only to get word that Con- H gross had passed a law allowing claim H owners until June 30th to do their as- H bessment work. He says he would not H have left California until spring if he had known what congress was go- H " ing to do, as the oranges are in full H bearing in Pomona, where he has been H , wintering, and the country looks very H inviting. H Immediately after the mass mcet- H ing last night the sheepmen met in H the auditorium and voted with two H dissenting votes to reduce wages to ' herders to the maximum X)f $75 a Bfi month and board. Also a meeting H was called for Monday afternoon at B. ; 2:00 p. m. nt the auditorium for the Vk purpose of forming an organization of B local sheepmen to handle matters of H concern to woolgrowcrs. A committee K t was appointed to notify all sheepmen H of 'the date of the meeting. |
