Show : IG.HN J. DALY, J The generous gift-of $5,000 by Mrs), J. J. Daly to the new cathedral has been supplemented by $5,000 more from Iher generous husband. This makes $10,000 from the family. It brings that donation up to .the highest notch reached by any of the donors to the' beautiful structure which is being erected, and will enable Bishop Scan-Ian Scan-Ian to commence work on the cathedral at an early date .The gut coming un-" solicited from Mf Daly, as it did, is all the more appreciated by Bishop Scan-Ian. Scan-Ian. Had others followed this good example ex-ample the new building would be soon completed. The Intermountain Cath- i olic hopes it will have the desirable i effect of loosening the purse strings of many others who can afford to aid the good bishop in his grand work. The new cathedral, when completed, will be an ornament to the city. The presence of such a building will not only add to the attractions of the city, but will inspire in-spire the confidence of visitors in its prosperity and enhance? that of substantial sub-stantial men who have made it their permanent home. Bishop Scanlan, when asked by a representative of the Intermountain Catholic, as to what his feelings were on the receipt of this last gift, said: . f "1 was simply overwhelmed with joy ; and gratitude at Mr. Daly's generosity, : especially . as It came unsolicited. Nothing but his big heart could prompt it. I even doubt if he would like to see it published. Should others fall into line and follow the good examnle, I hope to have the building roofed "in by next fall." . . .
