Show BUTTE, MONT. . - i Sister Mary Olive of Leavenworth, Kas has been elected mother superior of the Sisters of Charity in America in succession to Mother Irene, who was elected to that position while in charge of the sisters hospital in this city. Mother Olive. the new head of the order in America, is well known in this rity and state. For several years she was stationed at Deer Lodge and later in Helena. She left the latter city about ten days ago for Leavenworth. Mother Olive is recognized as one possessing pos-sessing great executive ability. The ladies of St. Joseph's parish. South Butto, are making preparations for a bazaar to be held" in November, the date of which will be announced later, for the purpose of raising funds to pay the indebtedness on the new-church new-church and school. A soliciting committee com-mittee was appointed who will solicit donations for bazaar. Very Rev. Father D. M. O'Gorman, president of the St. Joseph college of Dubuque. Iowa, and Dr. G. II. Heerem. district superintendent of the public schools of Xew York, are visiting in Butte as the guests of Rev. Father Leshner of Sacred Heart church. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Hanley are camping camp-ing in Brown's gulch and are chaperoning chaper-oning Miss Florence Twohy. Miss May Hanley and Miss Olive Mc-Dougall.. Mc-Dougall.. Mrs. R. A. Sullivan of Montpelier, Idaho, is in the city visiting her mother. Mrs. Mary McGough. 322 South Montana street. She will be in the city until early winter. Mrs. Turner wi!i have as her guest Mrs. Henry Welch of Park City. Utah, who arrived Tuesday. Mrs. Welch is an aunt of Mrs. Miles Finlen and has many acquaintances in Butte. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Murray of Monterey, Mont-erey, Cal.. arrived in Butte the early part, of the week from Hunters Hot Spiings. Mi. and Mrs. Murray spent the spring months In Philadelphia and New York. Miss Gertrude Shay left for Salt Lake City Monday afternoon to visit her sister for a few days. Marco Medin has been ill with appendicitis ap-pendicitis for the past three days and is confined in his apartments on West Broadway. His condition is not regarded re-garded as critical. Mrs. Emmet R. Canoll and sons. Emmett and Frank, left Monday via the southern route to visit relatives in Iowa. Aftor several months' stay in Iowa they will return via St. Louis and Kansas City to their home, 714 East Mercury. Miss Cruse and Miss Mamie Cruse, the latter the daughter of Thomas Cruse, are over from Helena. The funeral of -James McCoombe, aged thirty-six years, was held last Saturdav morning from his late residence, resi-dence, 415 Anaconda road, at nine o'ciock and proceeded to St. Mary's church, where mass was celebrated. The deceased leaves a wife and four children in this city, and a mother, father, brother and fie sisters in Ireland. |
