Father Mullens has spent two weeks in Tonopah, and a week ag0 last Sunday he delivered the sermon at the 10 o'clock mass, which was greatly enjoyed by all the parishioners. The offertory at last Sunday's mass was sweetly sung by Master James Genetti, Millard's "Ave Maria" being the piece, being very appropriate as it is so near Our Lady's Feast. Miss Pearl Humphrey passed through Tonopah from Manhattan to Los Angeles. Miss Pearl, during her stay here, isited her schoolmates from St. Mary's, and they certainly had many enjoyable outings. After a visit in Los Angeles Miss Humphrey will return re-turn to .St. Mary's to resume her studies. Mrs. Sam Dunham has returned from California, where she has been visiting with her daughters. Mrs. Dunham re-Ports re-Ports the young ladies as in fine health and enjoying themselves. Miss Trent, who so greatly aided in the singing at our church during the Past six weeks, pas returned to St. Louis. We hope to see her pleasant face again another summer. One of the most pleasant affairs of the season was the "house warming" at Judge and Mrs. J. P. O'Brien s beautiful new home on Brougher avenue. ave-nue. The judge and his charming wife are to be congratulated on the success of their pleasant party, as well as the beauty of their new home. The many new residences erecting in Tonopah will show the confidence of the business people in our town, the greater number of these homes being built of stone, with the wide curving verandas, which lends such an air of elegance to the architecture. Mrs. J. p. O'Brien entertained for her daughter and sons at a children's party the latter part of the week. The children will soon be leaving for school in California. SADIE E. GIBBONS. |
