Show WASHINGTON CELEBRATION. Sacred Heart Academy Students ' Hear Good Programme. The undergraduates on Tuesday carried car-ried out a Washington day programme at the Sacred Heart academy.- The exercises ex-ercises consisted of musical selections, recitations and a Washington number of the class paper, The Star of the1 West. One of the many original poems of the paper is one' by Miss Margaret Miller on "Utah," whbse local colorings strongly appealed to -the audience. Utah. Soft, cloudless skies,, tinged with colors untold, And mountains majestic, with tintings of gold Guarding wonderful secret that time shall unfold Are thine. Utah! Land of the Sego! Calm, sun-bathed valleys, with crownings crown-ings of dew, And fair' autumn daj'S of bright" golden gold-en .hue, Clear streamlets reflecting heaven's own blue Are thine, Utah! Land of the Sego! The lowing of cattle, the humming of bees, The glad song of birds 'mid tall poplar trees. The light airy zephyrs, the cool summer sum-mer breeze Are thine, Utah! Land of the Sego! Abundance of harvests, true wealth of the soil. And mineral riches, reward of. man's toil. And love that is given with homage most loyal-Are loyal-Are thine, Utah! Land of the Sego! True pride for our country's last added star. Whose gleam even now may be seen from afar; Deep love that is changeless in peace, as in .war Are thine, Utah! Land of the Sego! |
