Show Coming- Events. Great preparations are being made for the annual ball of the Young Men's Institute at Turner Hall, the evening of Oct. 22. If the entertainments and socials given by these young men in the past is a criterion, the coming ball promises to be the most elaborate and successful of the dancing season. The ladies of the congregation met with Mrs. John Long the past week. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess and arrangements further perfected for the fair, which will probably prob-ably occur the last week in November. The ladies deserve much credit for their consci?ntious efforts in this direction. Let the good work continue, ladies. It is understood to be the intention to shortly orpar.Ie a large choir of mixed voices fo" St. Mark's Cathedral. This must not be construed as a reflection re-flection in any way on the superb youn ladies' choir now rendering such excellent music at that edifice, under the direction, of the Sisters, but the duties of these good women are so numerous and exacting that it is con-si-'erd '-n1i'st to -"dd resonsihilitKs that could and should rest with the congregation. An effort will also be made to r-place the rather antiquated now doing service with a pipe organ. The athletically Inclined members of the Y. M. I. are energetically working for the organization of a football team. It requires but a cursory glance at the membership to see that this club has material for an exceptionally , strong gridiron aggregation. j |
