On Thursday evening- of last week an entertainment was given by the girls of the House of the Good Shepherd in honor of Rt. Rev. Bishop J. B. Brondel, Rev. Father Day, Rev. Father Barry, licv. Father Sullivan and a few guests were present at the entertainment The principal feature was a beautiful drama, "Out of the Shadows Into the Light." The drama was well presented present-ed in four acts. Between the acts many recitations, music and the sailor's hornpipe horn-pipe were given. The girls deserve great credit for the rendition of the play, each one acting the part assigned her in a praiseworthy manner. Much musical musi-cal and dramatic talent was in evidence an through the various parts of the programme. The drama lasted over two and a half hours'and held the attention at-tention of the guests from beginning to end. The Sisters have certainly been unceasing un-ceasing in their labors to bring about fuch grand mastery, of the-mar" difficult dif-ficult numbers performed. The class room, where the entertainment was given, was beautifully decorated with (red, white and blue. A temporary stage was erected with hand-painted curtains. cur-tains. Over th front of the stage In large gold letters were the words of greeting. "Welcome." Many fresh cut flowers were placed around the room and a large statue of the Sacred Heart was prettily decorated. At the conclusion conclu-sion of the programme the bishop complimented com-plimented the participants on the excellent, ex-cellent, manner in which they had entertained en-tertained arid presented the play. |
