The semi-annual diocesan conference was held in Logan avenue school last Tuesday. The vicar general. Rev. Father Robinson, presided. Rev. M. F. , Callanan, pastor of the cathedral, read a carefully prepared paper on "The Celibacy of the Clergy," and Rev. H. 'L. McMenamin of Colorado Springs, one on "The Real Presence." The subject of a .highly interesting and enthusiastic debate was "The Sac-rement Sac-rement of the Eucharist." Rev. Father Duffy, pastor of the church in Manitou. was in. Denver during the week. There was very little going on in Catholic circles during the week, as , interest seems to have centered in the "Festival of Mountain and Plain." A musical and literary programme Is in course of preparation for the meeting meet-ing of the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception (Young Ladies' Sodality), on Sunday, Oct. 13, at Logan avenue school. The fair for the benefit of the Sisters of Mercy opened on Tuesday evening at Coliseum hall. Despite the fact that the carnival offered many attractions on the streets, the attendance was excellent ex-cellent and is Indicative of a great financial success. The booths are vry attractive and many new and novel features are presented. High Mass will be resumed In Logan avenue chapel on next Sunday. An excellent choir has been secured with the exception of a few male voices. Any gentlemen desirous of Joining will please leave their names at the cathedral cathe-dral rectory. ? Professor Jean de Chaurenet is the newly appointed organist of the pro. cathedral. Professor Chaurenet is one of the best known musicians of the city and a highly successful teacher. His selection will undoubtedly be a source of great satisfaction to the congregation. congrega-tion. At the 11 o'clock Mass In Logan avenue ave-nue chapel next Sunday Millard's Mass In G will be sung by a full choir, under the direction of Mr, "W. E. Nelson. Nel-son. Mr. and Mrs. J. J. O'Rourke of Sallda were in Denver during the carnival. Mrs. P. T. Rooney and daughted. Miss Alice, of Glenwood Springs came to Denver for the carnival. Miss Celia Dellit'and Mr. Guy Hal-lock Hal-lock were married last Wednesday afternoon aft-ernoon in St. Leo's church. Rev. William Will-iam O'Ryan performed the ceremony. Miss Nora Carey, aged 18 years, a devout de-vout member of St. Leo's congregation, died suddenly last Sunday evening. The funeral took place from St. Leo's church on Wednesday. The Misses Isabel and Anna Jacobs entertained at an informal musieale last week. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Rinkle of Sedalia, Mo.: Mrs. Charles A. Nast, Mrs. Richard Forhan, Mrs. A. Flick and Mrs. Louis Flick. Airs. M. Douglas and her sister. Miss Miss Chamard, have removed from 2067 Ogden street to No. 5 Tuxedo place. Election of officers of the Altar and Rosary society for the ensuing year will take place in Logan avenue school next Sunday afternoon. A meeting was held on Friday evening to name the condldates. The Knights of St. John held a reception recep-tion and dance in Elks hall on Tuesday evening. The attendance was very large. Miss Ella Callahan has returned from a two weeks' visit in Boulder. Rev. P. A. Phillips, chancellor of the diocese, left on Sunday afternoon for a six weeks' visit with his mother in St. Paul, Minn. Miss Elizabeth M. Kirkpatrick and Mr. Ralph W. Kelly will be married at St. Leo's church on next Tuesday morn-r morn-r ing. Mrs. Harry J. O'Bryan and her children chil-dren have gone east. , The banns of matrimony were announced an-nounced for the first time last Eunday between Miss Mary Rooney of the cathedral ca-thedral parish and Mr. Michael Walsh, formerly of Golden. S Mrs. R. C. Miller of Trinidad spent the week in Denver. S Mr. and Mrs. Peter Welsh and family fam-ily of Cripple Creek were visitors in the city during, the week.
