Show FATHER SYLVEStfER IrlALONE. On Friday, the 20th inst., there departed de-parted this life one of the best known priests of the United States Fat her Malone, pastor of St. Peter and Paul's church, Brooklyn, N. Y. Not only was Father Malone one of the best known priests in America, but few have been more reppected thaji he by all classes of people. Catholic and non-Catholic as well. His priestly career extended over a peiriod of sixty years, during- which time he labored unceasingly for the welfare of the church- and the glory of God. At the same time he was ever the best type of citizen, who hal always al-ways the one thought that he eouid best serve his country by loyalty to his church. The people of the state of Now York honored Father Malone by electing elect-ing him to the honorable and dignified position of regent of the State University, Univer-sity, which position he filled with honor hon-or and credit. In the death of Father Malone the church at large suffers loss, for before all the people he stood as the true, just and loyal citizen. May his soul rest in everlasting peace. |
