Show PREDICTION FOR 1908. Gustave Meyer Denies That the World Will Come to an End. (New York World.) As an American astrologer I have set up a chart for 1908, and find the year will prove a most remarkable and eventful period in the history of the United States, etc. There will be financial finan-cial panics, failures of banks, bank robberies, riots and strikes in all trades, calamities below, on and above the earth, and great loss of life and property prop-erty on land and sea, and shipwrecks will be quite numerous. The United States government will experience considerable revenue trouble, and much money will be spent for munitions mu-nitions of war. Calamities will occur to our naval vessels on their way to the Pacific coast, especially caused through carelessness of naval officers. We need fear no war with Japan, now or in the future. Japan, in fact, will prove to be our best friend and ally. Much trouble will occur to our soldiers and diplomats abroad. Our administration will be harshly criticised, and President Roosevelt will be subject to considerable slander and discredit. His life will be in jeopardy and misfortune will befall him, and he should guard against accident or trouble trou-ble to his knees in particular. Great failures will occur in the commercial com-mercial world. A bear market will prevail pre-vail in Wall street. The postofnee department, de-partment, railroads and steamship companies com-panies will do an enormous business, but life insurance companies will be compelled to face some record breaking Obligations, and mortality will be' unusually unus-ually high. A considerable number of earthquakes, earth-quakes, volcanic eruptions and., disastrous disas-trous atmospheric disturbances will occur. oc-cur. Pleasures will be greatly handicapped handi-capped and great fires and calamities will occur in hotels, theatres, places of amusement and at summer resorts. . Great storms will do much damage all over the country, and great fires will sweep the country, especially the east and west, and New York will bear the brunt. The militia will he called out to suppress strikes and riots, causing caus-ing much bloodshed and bitterness. I do not look for any great prosperity for our people until the summer of 1908. Coney Island and other pleasure resorts will be greatly damaged by great rainstorms during the early spring and summer months. The city of Hoboken will again be in grave danger of dock fires during 1908, but the most critical periods will be on February 2, 3 and 16, April 2 and 4. May 16 and 17, August 18, 19. 20. 26 and 28, and November 15, 16 ann 19. The most critical period of all will be August Au-gust 18 and 19. . I fear a repetition of the great fire that befell Hoboken seven years ago. Mr. Lee J. Spangler, the religious prophet, of York, Pa., predicts that the world will positively come to an end at the end of 190S. I wish to say, as an astrologer, that Mr., Spangler is wrong when he makes such a rash prediction, for I predict that the world will neither then nor at any other time come to an end. Great uprisings will occur in Russia and in Germany, and the star of Russia is positively setting, and I predict that within five years Russia will.be a republic. re-public. Turkey will follow in the footsteps foot-steps of Russia. I fear that the czar of Russia, will be assassinated during or not later than the summer of, 1908, as he has reached the most critical period in his career, and at the same time I also fear that the emperor of Germany will be in grave danger of passing away, brought about through cancer. The winter of 1908 will be an open winter, and a very unhealthy one, and mortality will be unusually large. |
