To aid children who have lost either oi both parents, and to bring them up fitted for a useful life is a noble work, and one in which the Sisters of Charily Char-ily have excelled. " Pueblo takes just pride in the Sacred Heart orphanage and as the first opportunity op-portunity is off ered for the general public pub-lic to contribute its little mite the call will certainly be needed. It is a little more than two years ago since Bishop Matz of Denver dedi-t-Hted the buildings, but since that time many little defenseless heads have found shelter and food, and .today there are 117, ranging from 18 months old to 14 years old. being properly cared for. The greater portion of these are Pueblo children who are being housed, clothed fed and 1 instructed from kindergarten to the highest grade which they are capable of taking. ' Thursday. Aug. 31. a benetit, will be given for the 'Sacred Heart orphanage ' at Minneoua park, and the management manage-ment of this resort has presented the orphanage with a. 000 tickets, to be sold at 10 cents each, asking no returns whatever from the sale of the same. The prospects are excellent for the sale of every one of ihosji tickets, and if this is accomplished it will mean IfOOO net for the orphaned children. The programme pro-gramme of events for the. day will be j varied and suited for every class and aside from (he worthy cause of the occasion, worth the nominal admission of .10 cents on merit alone. All de- sirous of aiding in this work are invited in-vited to call at the orphanage on Sprague avenue and supply themselves with tickets. The funeral of Charles, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jam-on, of 1241 South Santa Fe avenue, took Place from St. Mary's church Monday afternoon after-noon at. 4 o'clock. Interment was at River-view. f Captain and Mrs. M. J. Hogarty of Greeley stopped in the city Monday, on their way home from California, and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Barry Hogarty. Mrs. Barry Hogarty has returned from a. five weeks' sojourn in Manitou. 4- J. W. Finlan. treasurer of the Star-Journal, Star-Journal, of Pueblo, arrived home on.
