On Sunday evening a little girl, aged between 11 and 12 years, named Katie Power, was playing with- some other children in the' park, Waterford, near the entrance to Catherine street, when she fell into the river. Her cries for assistance attracted the attention of some young boys, who happened to be passing, and one of them named Charles Carty, a little fellow of 10 or 11 summers, jumped into a lighter which happened to be anchored in the river, end with admirable presence of mind, dragged the drowning girl to the bank, and succeeded in saving her life. |
