' On Tuesday the remains of John A. !.?, for many years an engineer on I the Oregon Short liine, vere taken to St. Mary's Cathedral, where Mass was offered ur for the repose of his soul by-Father by-Father Kielv. 'Lee reeret his early demise, and will often think of him as a kind and whole-souled friend. H. Pinkerton. was operated on at St. Mark's hospital last Saturday for appendicitis. ap-pendicitis. Her friends will be glad to know that she is fast convalescing and ill soon be at home. The children of the 9 o'clock- choir will have an important rehearsal on Saturday at 3:30. The members of the boys' choir must be present. Parents are earnestly requested to send their children to Hie practice. The ring of the bicycle bell will, in a few days, be but a memory. The city shoull provide an optician for the unhappy bicyclists, who will now become cross-eyed trying to dodge the boulders that adorn the streets. Mr. Charles Kennedy, assistant general gen-eral passenger agent of the Rook Island, was a visitor to Salt Lake during dur-ing the week. He was on his way to ' Butte. Mr. Kennedy is one of the pop ular railroad men ef the country, and It is needless to say he represents a popular railroad. The club will shortly have an enjoyable enjoy-able outing at some of the canyons. Extensive preparations are being made for the laying of the cornerstone of the Cathedral. The music will be of a very high order.
