Show j EUREKA, UTAH. J. C. .Sullivan, manager of the Raymond-Illinois Mining company, made a business trip to the capital last week. . James Hanley, J. J. Sullivan. Charles McPhee and John ' Donnelly went to Salt Lake last week to be present at the initiation of candidates into the Knighls?bf Columbus, .which took place Tuesday evening. May 12. A class of ISO was. put through, and Charles McPhee took the third degree. de-gree. John D. Murphy, a well known anil highly respected old-timer of Eureka, passed away at his residence Sunday, May 10. The cause of his death was miner's consumption. Deceased, who was T9 years of age, was born in Ciuin. County Cork. Ireland, and is the only-son only-son of Dennis and Kate Murphy. He came to Michigan twenty-eight years ago, where he' worked in the mines at Calumet. Eighteen years ago he came to Eureka, where he has resided ever since. Besides a wife he leaves behind him to mourn his loss two sons, I Michael and Jerry, and two daughters, Mrs. McManus and Mrs. Eugene Tir-rell. Tir-rell. Funeral services were held Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon' in St. Patrick's church. Rev. P. J. O'Donohue officiating. officiat-ing. The Knights of Columbus, of which order deceased was a member, attended high 'mass Wednesday morning-at 8:30 and sent a large floral cross. Interment took place at the Eureka City cemetery under the direction direc-tion of Undertaker Eustice. (The pallbearers pall-bearers were: John Diamond, Dan Kelly, Joseph Schlecht. Patrick Downey. Dow-ney. Tim Downey and Dennis Harrington. Har-rington. A large number of sympathizing sympathiz-ing friends of the family attended the services and followed the remains, to their last resting place. . |
