A party of the leading officials of the Northern Pacific railway spent several hours in Bozeman Monday, arriving on their special train from the west at about 3 o'clock, and going on to Livingston Liv-ingston about 9 o'clock. The partv included in-cluded President Howard Elliott, Vic-President Vic-President ,T. M. Hannaford, General Manager Slade and several other officials. offi-cials. They were met at the depot by a committee of the Gallatin Valley club, and were taken to the college. where they were entertained by President Pres-ident Hamilton. From the college they went to the Gallatin Valley club rooms, where the Ladies' Imperial band played for them, and where they met informally a large number of Boze-man's Boze-man's business menand spent several hours in soctal intercourse. They were entertained at an informal dinner, at the Bozeman hotel before leaving" 'for Livingston. An engineering party under the management man-agement of C. A. Jaquettc started work last Tuesday on tne fina survey for tne i .new electric railway. The party con-Jsists con-Jsists of ten members, among whom arc three from the engineering department of the Montana Agricultural college, including Bower Barnard, Otis Keeler and Harmon Wilson. Bozeman is making preparations for a larger and a better Sweet Pea carnival carni-val for this year. The date will be about Sept. 1. The dedication of the new Holy Rosary Ro-sary church was rnrrioH nut with o t pomp and ceremony on May 3. The church was crowded with interested people that had watched the building of this church for years. The Catholics of Bozeman have needed the new house of worship for years and will certainly appreciate the beauty and grandeur of this fine building after the years spent in their old church, which was of very humble mold. Those who came from a distance to assist were: Bishop Carroll of Helena,' Father Tra villi, S. J., of Missoula; Father Sullivan of Butte; Father Cushnahan of Ogden, Ttah: Father Guinan and Father Kelledv of Salt Lake City, and Father William Griffin of Minnesota. A banquet was held Sunday afternoon in Elks' hall for the visitors and the board of trustees. A -two weeks' mission is being con-j ducted at the Catholic church bv Rev. Father Daugherty and Rev. Father Rohland, both of whom belong to the! Apostolate Fathers of Dubuque, la. i The services began Sunday with a sol- j emn high mass at 10:30 o'clock. Early masses will be celebrated each morning at 6:30. 7:30 and S:30 o'clock, and even-: ing devotions at 7:30 o'clock. Lectures will be delivered by the visiting priests. The Apostolate Fathers are celebrated for their eloquent and earnest- work, and will have a message to deliver each evening that will be well worth listening listen-ing to. Father Thompson extends a most cordial invitation to all of the people of Bozeman to attend these meetings. non-Catholics as well a-? Catholics. - Bad weather naturally reduced the number of visitors at the Agricultural college last Friday on the. occasion of the annual visitors' day. Preparations' udu neen maae lor a more interesting display and exposition of the college work than in former years, and those who braved the storm to attend- wee more than repaid for their trouble. The I college band was in attendance during the day,, and in the evening gave h dance in the drill hall which was well attended and greatly enjoyed. Arrangements have been completed for the commencement exercises of the Montana Agricultural college. The annual an-nual concert will be held Monday evening. even-ing. May 2". The baccalaureate services serv-ices will be held in the opera house Sunday. Sun-day. May 31. The .sermon will be preached by Rev. W. N. Sloan of Helena. Hel-ena. On Monday afternoon. June 1, the graduation class of the college will have its class day exercises on the campus On Monday evening will occur the annual an-nual alumni banquet. "Tuesday afternoon. after-noon. June 2, the graduation exercises of the one-year course in domestic sci- i ence department will be held in the do-i mestic science . rooms. On Tuesday evening at the assembly hail the preparatory pre-paratory department will hold their usual graduation exercises, the program being furnished by the class. The annual an-nual commencement exercises of the college proper will take place in th- assembly hall on the evening of June 3. The address will be delivered by Judge E. K. Cheadle of Lewistown Mont. There will be nine graduates from the college, five in engineering apd four in science. l |
