Show Scholarship Award Goes To McEntire Preston High School Senior Winner Of Union Pacific Prize Warren McEntire, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wells McEntire of Preston, Pres-ton, has been awarded the Union Pacific Scholarship for Franklin county by the scholarship committee. commit-tee. The committee included Chase Pond, vocational agriculture instructor in-structor of Malad, chairman; Chase Kearl, Franklin county agricultural agent, and . Glenn Thome, vocational voca-tional agricultural instructor of Downey. Letho Auger, son o Mr. and Mrs Leland Auger also of Preston was named as alternate. The scholarship award is to be dised at the University of Idaho and amounts to $10000 in cash to help defray school expenses. This an nual award is based upon project work, grades, leadership ability, Future Farmer activities and the general need for the award. Warren's project program over a tihree year period has includeu the feeding of fat beef and fat hogs, the care and handling of brood sows and the FFA Chapter duroc boar. Growing of cockerels and the handling of .a dairy cow and for his crop projects the growing grow-ing of tomatoes and sugar beets. In tihree years of project work Warren had 13 projects and made a labor income of $464.85 profit. This is profit above alt expenses. Warren is now a senior at Preston Pres-ton high school and holds the degree de-gree of State Farmer. II is treasurer treas-urer of the Idaho FFA association. Letho is also a senior in the Preston high school and will use the scholarship- if it is not used by Warren. Letho's project program has included in-cluded the raising of swine- cockerels, cock-erels, wheat and barley, with most of his efforts being spent with brood sows and their litters. |
