Show Church Council Urges Cooperation In Home Beautification Program In anticipation of the 1947 Centennial Cen-tennial celebration, the L.D.S. church,, is asking all their members to take part in a home beautification beautifica-tion program for 1941, and when certain standards are attained, an award will be given. In . every slake and ward, committees com-mittees have been organized, and they are expected to lead out and put this program over. Many people judge our standards of living by the' appearance of our homes and surroundings. Beautiful surroundings are conducive to more cheerful and happy lives. People living in a clean place are more apt to enjoy beau iful lives and better health. The program is expected to start at once and commence with a cleanup. clean-up. A careful survey by the committee com-mittee will show the conditions of the homes and what will be necessary neces-sary in order to beautify them. In each ward a subcommittee will be appointed to judpe the homes according to the following score card. For a thorough cleanup clean-up of homes and surroundings. 2n points will lie allowed. If buildings, gates, fences, walks, etc., are put in good repair, 20 points will be given. The landscaping and general appearance ap-pearance of the place, and appropriateness appro-priateness of the planting of the front yard or public area, the back yard or private area, and the service ser-vice area are to be given 30 points. Ten points will be given, for the care of buildings and surroundings during the season. For well-kept lawns, both front and back yard, 10 points will be given; and for trees, another 10 points will be allowed. al-lowed. When the Judges feel that a home with its surroundings1, is worthy of 70 points out of the 100 they wl'l so report, and an award wiil be sent to them. The score card for the first year has been so arranged that the ma;n objectives can be largely accomplished accom-plished by labor and the spending of very little money. Pride, n'-ntn'-ss and a desire to keep the horn" well care for will be considered in the scoring. Every member of the family should take part in helping to make the, home more beautiful. Take pictures showing the progress prog-ress of the work before it is started start-ed and when completed. It will cost very; little to beautify your home.
