Show j LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST j -I !- Miss Louine Borg spent several days last week at Richfield, visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Bf.-rgeson are here from their home at Cornish and are guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Bown. They will be here for an extended visit. Elmer Hendricks of Lewiston, Utah, was here for a brii. f visit with his sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Geo. Last, Monday. Mr. Hendricks was enroute south on business busi-ness niatters. Miss Crystal Christensen celebrated her 13th birthday anniversary Friday t-vening of last week, when she entertained enter-tained for sixteen young friends. A dainty luncheon was served at seven-thirty, seven-thirty, and this was followed by a brief session at progressive "500." Later the hostess and guests attended the dancing party at the high school, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Peterson, proprietors pro-prietors of the Wistaria, spent several sever-al days at Salt Lake and Provo dur-ing dur-ing the week. Mrs. C. N. Lund charmingly entertained enter-tained at a luncheon-bridge party Thursday evening. An appetizing dinner din-ner was served to twenty guests, following fol-lowing which a lively game of progressive pro-gressive bridge was enjoyed. Prize winners were Mrs. J. B. Roper, Mrs. Leo Bardsley and Mrs. Oscar Tolck. D. H. Whittengurg, operator of one of the largest poultry farms in Southern South-ern Utah, located at Richfield, accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Whittenburg, was a business visitor to Gunnison Thursday Thurs-day of List week. Mr. Whittenburg, former agriculturist for the Gunnison Sugar company, reports his industry as highly pleasing. He recently became be-came sole owner of the poultry farm, having purchased the Vic Malmsten interests. L. P. Nelson, representing the home loan association for the government, with headquarters at Mt. Pleasant, was in Gunnison on official business Saturday. ; i Mrs. Elmer Nielson and daughter, Marjorie Jean Nielson, were here from Richfield Saturday and were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Gribble, parents of Mrs. Nielson. Niel-son. Joseph F. Peterson of Redmond and A. J. Crosier of Salina, president and vice-president, respectively, of the Piute Reservoir & Irrigation company, were Gunnison visitors the first days of the week. They were conferring with Ira Overfelt, board member of! the irrigation company. ! Stanley W. Johnson, former practicing practic-ing attorney at Gunnison, and at present city attorney, and J. L. Thompson, of Ephraim, were business visitors here Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Willardson and' children of Ephraim, and Mr. and Mrs. H, Roland Tietjen of Monroe, were visitors here Sunday at th homes of Mr. and Mrs. M. D. Beauregard Beaure-gard and Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Ballard. Mrs. Wesley Duggins and daughters, daugh-ters, Audrey, Deon and Jerrolyn, Dean Bawden and Miss Trilma Francis, Fran-cis, motored to Salt Lake Tuesday morning and were guests of relatives for a few days. |
