Show Provo Concern Is Successful Bidder At a special meeting of the Gunnison Gun-nison city council, held Tuesday evening, eve-ning, the award for furnishing materials mater-ials for the water works improvement program went to the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe company of Provo. This company's bid was $15,C69.58. Several other bids were submitted, but steel pipe was offered as the substitute sub-stitute for the cast iron, and for this reason were rejected. A study of the comparisons of steel and cast iron pipe convinced the council members that the cast iron pipe, through long tests, has proved its lasting quali- ties, and would be cheaper m the long run. Nies Fugal of Pleasant Grove, was awarded the contract for the construction work on the water system sys-tem improvement program. Fugal's bid was $4,997, if the job is to be done by hand labor. His bid,, if machinery ma-chinery is used, was $4,520. Likely it will be insisted that hand labor be used, as it would result in furnishing work for many of the idle men. The Centerfield town board awarded award-ed the contract for furnishing the materials ma-terials for their water works system to the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe company, the bid being $16,193. All the bids for the construction work, however, were rejected, and the officers offi-cers of the town board will ask for new bads, which will be considered January 3, 1935. O. R. Pickle and Kirk Decker, representing rep-resenting the PWA state organization, organiza-tion, were present at both the Gunnison Gun-nison and Centerfield meetings when the several bids were considered. |
