Show Gala Affairs Are Planned For Christmas Holiday Civic and Church Organizations Unite to Insure Plenty of Fun for Young and Old During Year's Gayest Season. Whisper it softly, kiddies, but be sure and tell every little boy and every little girl in the city that Santa Claus ia coming to town. The old funny fun-ny fellow, with silvery white whiskers, whis-kers, and that everlasting smile, has knocked down Old Man Depression and is coming with a big treat for all the boys and girls. And, oh, what a time we all will have enjoying a visit from the gift-giver from the cold, northern country! It will be a time of rejoicing and merriment when everybody gathers to celebrate the dawning of Christmas. Started by the Relief society, later being joined by the members of the city council, the Gunnison Lions club, the business men, and every patriotic patrio-tic citizen, the celebration of Christmas Christ-mas is going to be one of the big events of the year in Gunnison. A huge Christmas tree, mounted at the Sunday Morning Program. A Christmas program will be given giv-en Sunday morning at 10 o'clock in the Gunnison ward chapel, under the direction of the Sunday school. The program: Community Singing, "Far, Par Away"; prayer, Bishop Hyrum Christiansen; singing, "Christmas Cradle Song"; A Christmas Acrostic, Acros-tic, kindergarten department; solo, Milton Perkins; reading, primary department; de-partment; chorus, church history department; de-partment; story, Book of Mormon department; de-partment; violin trio, gospel message department; Christmas story, gospel doctrine department; singing, "Jolly Old St. Nicholas"; benediction, I. L. Henrie. Hamilton Ward. Christmas day will be appropriately approp-riately observed by Sunday school members of the Hamilton ward. The festivities will start oromntlv at 1 intersection of State and First South streets, is already aglow with brilliant bril-liant shining lights, and profusely decorated with tinsel and other attractive at-tractive ornaments, and has instilled the spirit of real Christmas into the soul of all, and with the promise of a real celebration arriving next Monday Mon-day evening, good will and good cheer will be in the hearts of everyone. It's to be one big party for boys and girls and all the grown-ups of Gunnison Gun-nison city. An appropriate, but brief, program has been arranged for Monday evening, eve-ning, starting promptly at 7 o'clock, at the Gunnison ward chapel. All are requested to be there to greet Santa Claus and to hear the interesting program, which follows: Opening Song Congregation Invocation ..W. H. Farr Tableau "Star of the East" o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Scout lodge, when a short program will be given. The children will be given a treat of candy and nuts, and later dancing will be enjoyed. Centerfield to Celebrate. Christmas day, the Sunday schools of Centerfield will gather at the ward chapel at 10 o'clock in the morning, when an appropriate progTam of songs, readings and musical numbers will be given. During the afternoon a dancing party will be held for all the children and a gala time will be enjoyed. And good old Santa Claus will pay a visit and will distribute bags of nuts and candy to the children. child-ren. All children of the Centerfield ward are especially invited to be at the chapel and enjoy both the morning morn-ing and afternoon festivities. Following the program, preparations prepara-tions will be made for the reception of good old Santa Claus. When he enters the chapel he will be loaded down with boxes of nuts and candy, and every boy or girl present will be presented with a box. There will be no packages distributed at the Christmas Christ-mas tree, as on other occasions many of the smaller children were overlooked. over-looked. Members of the various committees are urgent that all children be present, pres-ent, and the citizenry in general will be welcomed to hear the program. |
