Last Sunday Scoutmaster Sheldon Jensen and his scouts added another feather in their caps when they played play-ed a return game of baseball with the Redmond scouts on the latter's diamond, dia-mond, and won by a score of 23 to 7. Fans at the game reported it a good one and say the scouts are some real fellows and extra good sports. The Axtell line-up is: Pitchers Moyal Sorenson and Virgil Anderson; catcher, catch-er, Lloyd Nielsen; short-stop, Roland Whitlock; first base, Keith Amtoft; second base, Marvin Roper; third base, Royal Whitlock; fielders, El-wood El-wood Sorenson, Leonard Percival, Ward Jensen, Donald Ireland, Donald Jensen 'and Moral Watts. Mrs. Myrtle Malstorm and daughters, daugh-ters, Marie, Jean and Lucille, and son, Max, visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Chris Thorpe. Mrs. Veone Tollestrup of Salt Lake, visited last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Thorpe. Policeman A. L. Thorpe, Mrs. Thorpe and daughter, Varda, and Mrs. Laura Stevenson, of Salt Lake, npent Sunday visiting Chris and Chas. Thorpe. June 3, Mr. anl Mrs. Chris Thorpe were host and hostess at a dinner party in honor of their visiting relatives rela-tives and friends. The guests were Policeman . Thorpe and Mrs. Thorpe, Miss Varda Thorpe, Mrs. Laura Stevenson, Ste-venson, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Tollestrup Tolles-trup of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Gaddie, Mrs. Fred Tilton and Paul Tilton of Gunnison, Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Jensen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Fautin and Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Thorpe of Axtell. Postmaster C. L. Despain and Mr. and Mrs. Clair Despain motored to Salt Lake last Tuesday and combined com-bined business and pleasure. Mr. and Mrs. Bartley Thorpe of Ephraim, called at Axtell last .Friday, due to the serious illness of Charles Thorpe. At this writing Mr. Thorpe is much improved. Bishop and Mrs. Clive Despain left Sunday for Logan, where Mr. Despain will attend summer school. Mrs. Elnora Taylor of Freedom, and Mr. and Mrs. Mart Taylor of Gunnison, were Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Kelson. Miss Arline Anderson was hostess to a number of young friends Sunday Sun-day evening at a delightful birthday party. Mrs. Cannon Jensen, Mrs. James Peterson and Mrs. Martin Fautin entertained en-tertained Wednesday afternoon at a shower for Mrs. Cameron Thorpe. About fifty guests were present to bring well wishes to the newlyweds. Mrs. Thorpe was the recipient of many lovely gifts. Mrs. Alvin Jensen and Mrs. Ruel: Nielsen spent Friday visiting Mrs.. Iver Iverson Ephraim. Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Despain, Mr.; and Mrs. Fearon Despain, liishop and Mrs. Clive Despain, Mrs. Layern Lar-' son and Verl Despain went to Epl(-raim Epl(-raim last Thursday to attend the funeral services for Morris Thompson, Thomp-son, a near relative, who was accidentally acci-dentally killed last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Seibert, Thelma Jensen, Ijeah Nielsen and Norma Nielsen left last Thursday for a ten-day ten-day vacation touring Southern Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jones and family of Gunnison, are accompanying them. Miss Ruby Nielsen spent Sunday and Monday visiting Miss llerma Peterson Pe-terson at Salina. Mrs. Miles Jensen is visiting at Mayfield or a few days. ' |
