Gunnison at Richfield. Unable to fathom the Salina Salts until the 6th inning, and running scoreless for five innings, the Gunners Gun-ners lost their game Sunday afternoon after-noon to the visitors by a score of 11 to 6. While the score was a little onesided, one-sided, it was the best game played on the local diamond this season. The Gunner crew gave the visitors a real threat in the 6th inning, when they found Madsen, Salina's first pitcher, for several hits, which - brought in three runs. The home boys put two scores across in the 7th and one in the 8th inning. Errors in the first and second innings by the Gunners were costly and allowed the Salts to cross the plate five times. Six errors were chalked against the Gunners during the game. Morley, moundsman for the Gunnison Gunni-son boys, after once settling down, nit'ehed a wonderful game. While he allowed 15 hits, he held them pretty .well scattered after the first three ;nnings. During the three innings his support failed him, and at this point the Salts took the lead. Modeen, going in to relieve the Gunner center field, was the heavy hitter for the local boys. He was at bat but two times and took a hit each time, one a homer, with none on bases. Cal Madsen held the mound for five innings, when the locals hopped onto his curves. Dally Bird went in for the Salts at this time and, while not in the prime of condition, held the locals dowm. Gunnison's total hits -reached eleven. Manager Eggertsen, for the Gunners, Gun-ners, realizes more practice is necessary neces-sary to make better players and with (Continued on last page) -U4J . . .
