Show Fortify for Winter h Urges Egg Expert il Now is a good time to store eggs 1 for use during the fall and winter f r months, advises Carl Frischknecht, 'i extension poultryman of the Utah jr, j State Agricultural college. Eggs laid M during this time of the year are not ' Wl only cheaper in price but they keep 41 'better in storage than those laid later in the season. J If satisfactory results are to be ob- A tained, the eggs should be fresh, clean a and infertile. It is a mistake to store W eggs that are poor in quality and, those that are badly soiled. Washed I eggs do not keep well and eggs with I shells that are unsound should never be stored, Mr. Frischknecht warns. A good preservative for eggs is so-j so-j dium silicate or water glass, which can be purchased at drug stores. One quart of sodium silicate mixed with nine quarts of water, that has been . 1 boiled and allowed to cool, will pro-vide pro-vide enough of the solution to pre-0 pre-0 serve 15 dozen eggs successfully.
