Show Major Contract Is Completed on Road Having completed contract work on 'he Zion-Mt. Carmel highway in Zion National Park totalling one and a quarter million dollars, the Nevada Contracting company has wrecked its camp which it has occupied for more than two years, moved out its equipment equip-ment and all employees have left the park, thus marking the end ' of its job of building the major part of what "is perhaps the most spectacular highway high-way in the world, according to E. T. Scoven, park superintendent. Work on the great project has now progressed to a point where it is possible pos-sible to open it to use by the public. However, any person who elects to drive over the road can expect delays up to several hours on account of construction operations in progress by other companies. The major parts of the work still uncompleted are the bridges over the Mukuntuweap River, near park head-quartei-s, and across Pine Creek. In addition final surfacing of the section sec-tion from the east portal of the tun-I tun-I nel to the park boundary remains to he done and also some minor items of :onstruction. Until all of this has been completed, which will probably be early in the summer, delays may be expected. |
