Show Aged Pioneer Is Suddenly Stricken Mrs. Annie Margaret Jensen, 84 years old, died very suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Amasa Kenney, last Saturday evening at about 8:30. The aged woman had been about the home during the day and had ventured out of doors. After the evening meal she went to another room and sat down by a radio to listen lis-ten to the program. She gave a sudden sud-den gasp, her head dropped to her breast, and she was dead. She had suffered a stroke of apoplexy, which caused her death. Mrs. Jensen was born at Glomseu, Denmark, March 17, IS 197 a- daughter of Julian and Annie Margaret Peterson. Peter-son. In 1874 she came to America and settled in Gunnison, where she had resided practically all the time ur.til her death. She became the wife if I tans Jensen, and t'he latter died Septembe If, 1915. Before she advanced ad-vanced in years, Mrs. Jensen was an a; iw worker for the L. D. S. church, if which she was a member, and for 'iiore than twenty years she devoted herself in Relief society work and ward teaching. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Amasa Kenney and Mrs. Joe Lewis of Gunnison, and a son, John R. Jensen, Jen-sen, of Decth, Nev.; two sisters, Mrs. Sena Peterson of Richfield, and Mrs. Lenna Lott of Spring City, and one brother, Hans Peterson, of Idaho. Sixteen Six-teen grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren great-grandchildren are also left as survivors. sur-vivors. Farewell rites for Mrs. Jensen were held Tuesday at 12:30, from the Scout lodge in the Hamilton ward, with Bishop Leslie Kidman in charge. Hans C. Olsen, Jos. A. Larson and Hans Jensen gave the principal talks, and musical numbers were furnished by a quartet consisting of Mesdames June Met calf and J. E. Metealf, and E. L. Swalberg and Payton Alexander. Alexan-der. Added numbers were a duet by Mrs. G. W. Sorenson and Mrs. Elton Sorenson, and a solo by E. L. Swalberg. Swal-berg. Chas. S. Hansen gave the invocation and Chris. P. Larson pronounced the benediction. Burial took place in the Gunnison cemetery. |
