Show FURTHER RESTRICTION OF ALIENS FAVORED. "The present American administration administra-tion is bending its every energy to the work of protecting the rights of our citizen workers from the invasion invas-ion of foreign labor," Secretary of Labor William N. Doak,, stated in a recent address at Houston, Texas. He continued in part: "There is to my mind no doubt that laws further limiting the number of immigrants should be enacted. This (teems to me to be necessary in the interest not only of our native citizens citi-zens but of those who have come here from foreign lands and who, after fully complying- with the requirements require-ments of our laws, have earned rightful right-ful residence in our country.-. . "It is more regrettable that there have been and still are some immigrants immi-grants allowed to come to us who seemingly are not at all concerned with improving their own conditions and upholding our institutions, but who cherish and seek to put into effect ef-fect an entirely different purpose. I am glad that cf such immigrants there are comparatively few. There is no place here for those who would come with an intention other than to make and to keep their homes on :i plane with our own standards, and to work with us along the lines of national na-tional endeavor. It is a self-evident protective proposition that those who do not sincerely embrace our principles prin-ciples should be made to return to the places from which they came." |
