Show will attend the "Covered Wagon ! Days" celebration LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST Mrs. J. S. Peterson, Buster Peterson, Peter-son, Miss Benneth Roper and Hartley Keyser motored to Salt Lake Thursday Thurs-day of last week. The party returned return-ed Friday. Miss Irene Allmendinger motored to Mt. Pleasant Thursday of last week and remained until Monday of this week. She was a student at Wasatch Was-atch academy last winter and during her stay at the Hub City, was the guest of schoolmates and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pardew of Grand Junction, are here and are the guests at the home of Mrs. Pardew's parents, par-ents, Mayor and Mrs. J. S. Peterson. Miss Maxine Christensen of Lynn-dyll, Lynn-dyll, who accompanied her parents to Gunnison for a brief visit, is remaining re-maining here for a weeks visit with Miss Benneth Roper. Mrs. Mac Peterson was a charming hostess to sixteen members of the bridge club at her home on East First South street Friday afternoon. A dainty luncheon was served at one-thirty, one-thirty, following which four tables of bridge were in play. Miss- Gladys Jensen has returned home after spending- a month visiting with friends and relatives at Cedar City. While away Miss Jensen visited Cedar Breaks, Zion canyon, Navajo lake and other attractive places. Mrs. Leslie Kidman, who underwent under-went a serious operation at a Salt Lake hospital some three weeks ago, has returned to her home in Gunnison. Gunni-son. S.,on after the operation, Mrs. Kidman was taken to the home of her mother, Mrs. J. C. Clyde, at Mt. Pleasant, where she rested. The many friends will be gh'd to know that 'Mrs. Kidman is . now u ihe road to com-' plute recovery. j Miss Baibara Peterson Martin is leaving for Salt Lake, where she will remain until after the "Covered Wa,-j (on Days" celebration. She will be: the guest of friends while at the city. Mrs. Lillian Keyser celebrated her lirlhday anniversary Saturday afternoon, af-ternoon, when she entertained for f if-( teen guests. Progressive bridge was, the diversion during the early after-1 neon, and winners of favors were Mrs. J. A. Hagan of this city, and Mrs. Grace Curtis of Salina. The hostess served a dainty luncheon at 5 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Haws of Silver City, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nate Willmore over the week-end. Mr. Haws formerly served serv-ed at the head of the Kiwanis- club u'K the mining city. Miss Helen Kyhl, a sister to Mrs. ! Hart J. Sanders, spent the week-end ! at the H. J. Sanders home. Miss Kyhl ! resides at Salt Lake and was here for a brief vacation trip, joining Mr. aiid Mrs. Sanders on an outing to Fishlake. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. 'Andersen, assistant cashier for the Gunnison Valley bank, Mrs. Andersen and the Andersen children, escaped .the heat of the valley Saturday Sat-urday by ' motoring to Fishlake, where they remained until Sunday evening. ' Dr. and Mrs. G. Q. Christensen and daughter, came in from Lynndyll Friday Fri-day qf last week and were the guests at the home of Mr, and Mrs. J. B. Roper. Saturday the visitors, accompanied accom-panied by Mr. and Mrs. Roper, went to Fishlake, returning Monday evening. Mrs. George Francis and the Misses Mis-ses Trilma and Blanche Francis, visited vis-ited friends and relatives at the capital city last week-end. Brice McBride, water commissioner commission-er for the Sevier district, was a brief visitor to Gunnison Tuesday. He was returning from a trip to southern sections, where he was studying water wa-ter conditions. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Duggins left for Salt Lake yesterday, where they Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Clements of American Fork are here for a weeks visit . with relatives. Mrs. B. A. Madsen was hostess to members of the Wide Awake bridge club at her home Thursday afternoon of last week. Following a dainty luncheon at one-thirty, three tables of bridge were played, the winners being Mrs. J. E. Metcalf and Mrs. J. M. Knighton. - Mrs. Y. C. Sorenson has returned heme after an extended visit on the coast and a visit to the home of her son, Dr. L. W. Sorenson, at Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Kearns, who! spent several days here visiting with ! r latives and friends,' returned to V eir home at Cedar City Friday af-t, af-t, i noon. Miss Constance Gremsgaard of Kali:-pel, Mont., and who holds a responsible res-ponsible position with one of the leading banking concerns at her home town, is here for two weeks. She is the. house guest of Miss Trilma Francis. Misses Faye, Rae and Lucile Christensen Chris-tensen of Elsinore, and Mrs. Curtis Mellor of Manti, were house guests of Mrs. Annie J. Bartholomew last Sunday. - Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Johnson came over from Delta last Friday and were joined by Chas, P. Peterson and Miss Imelda Peterson, the party leaving; for an outing to Fishlake. I J. W. Jones and Sherman Jones, state bank examiners, Dr. P. L. Hol-man Hol-man and -Wm. Peterson, were, here from - Mt. Pleasant Monday evening for a brief visit. George Mortensen of Emery, was here Tuesday and was the guest at the H. E. Larsen home. He returned Wednesday and was accompanied by Mrs. Mortensen, who spent two weeks visiting with relatives in Gunnison. Gun-nison. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. A. Larson, Miss Bertice Larson, LaMar and Devon Larson, are at Salt Lake this week. ! The parents went to the capital city to meet their daughter, Miss LaVyrle Larson, who is returning from a 2-year 2-year mission spent in the eastern states. - . .. |
